What Can Water Storage Tanks Be Used For?

A water tank is a container for storing water and is widely used in the agricultural, industrial and fire fighting sectors.

Common Uses of Water Tanks

Rainwater harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is very suitable for water conservation purposes, especially in areas where water is not abundant. Rainwater is accumulated and stored for reuse, rather than simply allowed to run meaninglessly to the ground.

Potable Water Storage

Storage of potable water is a common application. What is extraordinary is knowing the myth of storing potable water. It is that water will expire.
As the name implies, water does not expire, but it can become chemically or biologically contaminated. Once the taste goes bad, it can be purified by simply rotating the container. To store drinking water indefinitely, keep it in a cool, shaded area, not directly on a concrete surface or on harsh fumes and chemicals.

For irrigation agricultural purposes

Irrigation and agricultural water tanks play an important role as large consumers of water tank suppliers. As climate change leads to unpredictable dry growing seasons, many farmers and growers in the agricultural industry prefer to purchase water storage tanks to help offset dry periods in order to protect their crops from low profitability of the harvest.

Firefighting water tanks

Even in developed cities where enough hydrants and winding pipes have been installed, the potential for problems in the unlikely event of a fire remains high. This is the reason why backup cisterns should come into play, technically known as firefighting cisterns. To protect entire communities in the extreme case of a sudden fire, fire departments are installing fire cisterns in various areas with dense facilities and no direct water supply.

Thermal Storage

The purpose of a thermal storage tank, or hot water storage tank as it is often called, is to store hot water for space heating or domestic use.
Water is a good medium for heat storage due to its high specific heat capacity. Compared to other substances, water can store more heat per unit weight and is non-toxic and low cost.
In addition, like in laundries and even home bathing and washing, water heaters play an important role in making it work with the help of some mechanical energy.

Although we design our tanks to address or mitigate many negative environmental impacts, water is susceptible to negative environmental influences, including bacteria, viruses, algae, pH changes, mineral buildup and gas accumulation. Contamination can also come from a variety of sources, including pipes, tank construction materials, animal and bird droppings, minerals and gas intrusion. Therefore, we still recommend that you clean your water tank once a year to reduce the spread of algae, bacteria and viruses to people or animals.
